At the end of the evening, those who had placed first in sparring that evening or in the two prior Fighting Fridays that month were eligible to compete for the January Sparring Grand Championship. Competing for the coveted title were Chayton, Peyton, Jesse, and James.

To make things a bit more fair for Chayton, we allowed him to pick his opponent. Would he pick by size or rank? He chose Peyton, who didn't outrank him by as much as Jesse. Chayton fought bravely and skillfully for a young beginner, and scored one point on the much taller Peyton.

The next match paired Jesse against James: two green belts, but with quite a large size difference. Jesse fought well, but had a hard time getting past James' kicks and punches.

Then it was time for the match which would decide the Grand Championship: Peyton versus James. It was an exciting fight, with the score tied several times. Finally Peyton Maas emerged the victor!

Congratulations to everyone who took part and helped make our Fighting Fridays fun and exciting. If you haven't taken part in one of our Fighting Fridays, we would urge you to keep an eye on this blog for announcements of when the next one will be scheduled.
