National Martial Arts Day a Success!

Thanks to the students and parents who showed up and gave generously, we were able to raise money for both St. Jude's Hospital (the final tally of what we raised isn't in yet) and Mandeville Kartate Training Center (over $300!) Our white and yellow belt students proved that they could do more kicks than we had anticipated. We were so proud of them, and of everyone who was part of the Kickathon and/or Board Breaking Extravaganza.

Even one of our tiniest students, Ian Dailey, did his part by gathering pledges and kicking 100 times for St. Jude's hospital --- and following that up with four board breaks for Mandeville Karate.

Philip White, a purple belt, wowed and impressed everyone with his impressive quadruple board break, which raised $20.

An anonymous donor had given $100, with the request that the Prewetts be the ones to break those 20 boards.

Sempai Benjamin challenged himself to two different first time feats: a board break with his left hand, and a triple board break. Everyone cheered when he accomplished both successfully.

Again, thanks to everyone who raised pledges, participated in the kickathon or board breaking, showed up and cheered us on, or brought refreshments. We had a great time and are looking forward to celebrating National Martial Arts Day again next year.
