Exciting Tournament!

The Crothers' Tournament was, as expected, exciting and well-run. I always enjoy getting together with other members of the "Keichu family", as well as the many friends we have made on the tournament circuit.

Competing is fun too.

Jesse took first place in kata, in a good-sized division.

Sempai Miriam took first place in both kata and weapons.

Sempai Benjamin impressed us all with a triple crown, sweeping first places in weapons, kata, and sparring. He then went on to take his first ever Tournament Grand Championship with his performance of Keri Zuke Kama.

I behaved. I waited until the black belt weapons division was through and I was dismissed before I ran over to Benjamin, yelling "You're the best one, baby!", and tried to toss him up in the air. He's a bit larger than he used to be, and not as easy to toss.

Next tournament: USKA World Championships in New Orleans.
