If you weren't there, you missed a great time. The highlight, of course, was recognizing our students' achievements with our annual student awards. Daniel Prewett, Trevor Maas, and Peyton Maas swept several categories. Each year, we recognize our Student of the Year, as well as giving awards for perfect attendance, excellent attendance, homework, tournament competition, parents of the year, and more. There are some awards which we do not give every year, but only when a particular student really excels in some area, such as the Courage Award, the Spirit Award, and others. This year Joe Irwin got the Spirit Award.
Before the awards and prizes, we put on a demonstration of some of the karate skills that our students have been working on during the past year. Then there was the "Fighting Friday moves to Saturday". We also heard from our special guest, Soke Marx.
We were hoping to show a video slide show of highlights of 2005; however, due to technical difficulties, I was unable to do so. Instead, each student who participated should have received their own private copy of this exciting DVD. Let me know if you want one as well.
